My buddy in Portland insists you should always replace a chain after 1,500 miles, no matter what.
We were cleaning our bikes in his garage last month and he said, 'A worn chain will trash your cassette, it's not worth the risk.' I've always just checked for stretch with my Park Tool CC-2 and replaced it when it fails. Has anyone else found that 1,500 mile rule to be too strict, or is my friend right?
