Wasted $60 on a cheap toaster repair kit that made things worse
I tried to fix my pop-up toaster last month using a $12 universal repair kit from Amazon. I figured it was a simple spring replacement, you know, save a few bucks. But the springs were the wrong size and the brackets didn't line up with my model at all. After two hours of jamming things in there, the toaster started smoking on the first test run. I ended up tossing both the toaster and the kit in the trash. Has anyone found a reliable place for toaster parts that actually fit common brands?

Has anybody actually had luck finding parts that fit? I tried a universal kit once and it was a total nightmare, nothing lined up right. Best bet is probably just checking the manufacturer's site or calling them direct.

Universal parts and I don't get along lol. I tried one of those "one size fits most" kits for a toilet and ended up with water spraying everywhere like a bad fountain show. My bathroom looked like a crime scene. The manufacturer's site saved me though - they had a diagram with part numbers that matched my exact model. Took 5 minutes to find, 2 days to ship. Way less crying involved than the universal route.
