Found out my sourdough starter is older than my car

I was cleaning out my fridge and found a note stuck to my starter jar from 2018. I've been feeding this same culture for over six years now. I looked it up and a healthy starter can basically live forever if you take care of it. My car is a 2019 model, so this jar of goop has been bubbling longer than I've owned my ride. It's wild to think I've kept something alive that long just by adding flour and water. Has anyone else had a starter hit a big milestone like that?

My starter is from 2016, a gift from a baker friend who was moving. I keep it in the back of the fridge and only pull it out maybe once a month for a feeding. The key for me was finding a jar with a loose lid, not airtight, so it never gets that nasty hooch on top. It's pretty cool having a kitchen project that outlasts most of my other hobbies.

Honestly that loose lid trick is a game changer, wish I'd known that years ago. Tbh my starter from 2020 is the only consistent thing in my life besides my phone bill. There's something really satisfying about keeping a living thing going with just flour and water. Makes you feel like a low key wizard every time you bake a loaf.
