Pro tip: I saw a fence in Charleston that made me rethink post spacing

I was down in Charleston last week visiting family and walked past this old iron fence around a historic house. The thing that got me was how the posts were set just a bit closer together on a curve in the sidewalk, maybe 6 feet apart instead of 8. It kept the whole line looking straight and strong, even on uneven ground. I've always stuck to a set distance, but seeing that made me wonder if being more flexible with spacing on tricky lots is smarter. Has anyone else adjusted their post spacing for a curve or slope and had it work out better?

Wait, you were just walking around Charleston and noticed fence post spacing... that's the kind of detail I would never see. I'm too busy looking for a coffee shop or something. The fact that you clocked it being 6 feet instead of 8 on a curve is wild to me. My brain just doesn't work like that. I guess some people really see the world differently.

Charleston fences are nice but I'm with park.joseph on this one. Most people just need a fence that stands up and looks fine. Overthinking the spacing on a curve seems like a lot of work for a small detail.
