Hit 50 custom jacket patterns this month and it finally hit me
I've been sketching and making patterns for denim jackets for about a year now, just as a side project. This month I counted and realized I had exactly 50 different pattern variations stuck to my wall. It surprised me because I never set a goal or milestone, I just kept tweaking and adding based on what looked wrong or didn't fit right. Each pattern taught me something about sleeve angles or pocket placement that I wouldn't have caught otherwise. Has anyone else kept track of how many drafts they go through before a design finally clicks?

Whoa, hold up. 50 patterns is a whole different level of patience than I have. But here's the thing nobody said yet - you probably learned more from the patterns that didn't work than the ones that did. Like you said, each one taught you something specific. Most people quit after a few tries because they get frustrated, but you just kept going and that's how you get good. That wall of patterns is basically a map of all the mistakes you WON'T make again.
