Heavy shoes made my nervous horse more sure-footed
Lots of folks around here say light shoes are best for quick horses. I chose steel shoes for a jumpy gelding, and his footing felt much firmer at our last event. Do you ever pick heavier shoes for animals that seem unsure?

Lightweight shoes let them feel the ground more.

Watched my buddy switch to those super thin running shoes last spring. He said he could feel every little rock and crack in the sidewalk, which sounded awful to me. But he swore it helped him change how his foot hit the ground. He ended up shaving a bunch of time off his mile, said it made him more aware of his form.

Why would you want a horse to feel every bump? A solid shoe cuts out the noise and lets them focus.
