Why does nobody talk about desoldering pump maintenance?
Took me three years to figure out my desoldering pump was clogged with flux residue... a coworker saw me struggling and pointed out I'd never cleaned the tip. Has anyone else had a similar "aha" moment with a basic tool you thought you knew how to use?

That's a good question, but how did you not notice it wasn't sucking up solder the same way after a while? I feel like the first time it clogged on me I was hunting for the issue pretty quick.

Are they? I've had the same desoldering gun for years and never once had a clog, maybe it's a user error thing.
