A teacher in Chicago told me my kid's 'learning style' focus was holding him back.
She said, 'He needs to build stamina for things he finds boring, not just get everything tailored to his interests,' so I stopped hunting for 'kinesthetic' math games and just made him sit down with the workbook for 20 minutes a day, which actually worked better.

My cousin's kid in Milwaukee had the same thing happen. Honestly, sometimes the simple way is just better.

Totally get that. My nephew had a fancy tablet for school, but he kept getting distracted by all the apps. His teacher suggested just using paper and a pencil for his reading work. His focus got way better almost right away. It was a good lesson for all of us.
