Yeah, "I used to think caulking was just caulking" really hit me. That's exactly how I felt before I tried doing it myself and realized there's a whole science to it. Watching someone who knows what they're doing makes it look so easy, but when you try it at home it's a whole different story. I've definitely had my share of messy caulk jobs that looked worse than the gaps I was trying to fill. It's honestly humbling how such a small thing can make or break a room.

I actually think the biggest thing people miss is that caulking isn't just about filling gaps, it's about knowing when NOT to caulk. Sealing a spot that needs to breathe or drain can actually cause water damage or mold behind the wall. It's one of those things where a little knowledge saves you from a much bigger headache later.
