Showerthought: The time I mis-measured a whole wall in a new build in Tampa
Had to cut a whole new sheet on site and lost an hour, but the real debate is whether you fess up to the client or just eat the cost quietly. What's your move when you mess up a measurement?

Honestly, that's just part of the job sometimes. The real move is to always tell the client right away. Trying to hide a mistake like that always comes back later and looks way worse. It builds way more trust to be straight with them, even if it costs you an hour. Most good clients will respect the honesty.

Mitchell is right about trust, but I'd add that the best clients actually expect a few small mistakes in any big project. I once had to redo a custom cabinet door three times for a picky homeowner in Clearwater, and they ended up giving me more referrals because they saw how I handled the fix. Owning it upfront turns a cost into a long term investment in your reputation. Do you find repeat customers care more about perfection or how you solve problems?
