Swapped my bucket teeth mid-shift after a jam in Galveston, no regrets
Ngl, I always ran the same worn teeth until they snapped. Last Tuesday off Galveston, a buried cable snagged the lip and bent one tooth sideways, killed my cut for 2 hours. I had spares in the locker but figured swapping mid-job would waste more time. Finally pulled over, changed all 4 in 45 minutes, and the next pass dug twice as smooth. Anyone else carry spare teeth on the barge or do you wait for the shop?
Wait till they snap like the rest of us. Stopping mid-shift to swap teeth just means you're eating the downtime twice, once for the change and once for the catch-up. You got lucky this time, but that 45 minutes would've been better spent grinding through the clay.
