Shoutout to the old timer who spotted my rookie mistake on the suction line

I was running my 8-inch cutterhead dredge on a channel job in Mobile Bay last week, fighting low production all day. This retired operator watching from shore yelled over, 'Kid, your suction hose is kinked like a garden hose behind the spud.' I looked and sure enough, a 3-foot section was pinched tight against the barge corner. Straightened it out and my slurry flow doubled instantly. How many other basic setup things are we all missing?
