Got called out for my sloppy spoil line setup on the Ohio River job

An old hand from the Pittsburgh crew told me straight up, 'Your discharge pipe is too steep, you're losing half your slurry before it settles.' I was running it at a 15 degree drop over 200 feet. Switched to a 5 degree slope with wider berms and cut our sediment runoff by 40% in a week. Anyone else had to relearn their basic pipe math the hard way?

Been there, that's a tough lesson to learn.

Reminds me of the time I tried to fix my own sink. Watched one video and thought, how hard could it be? Ended up flooding the kitchen floor and costing way more than a plumber would have. Sometimes you just have to pay for the lesson, you know? Makes you a bit slower to jump in next time.
