Blew a hydraulic line on the Willamette, now I carry a spare set of O-rings
Last Tuesday I was running a 12-inch cutterhead up near the St. Johns bridge and the suction hose started pulsing weird. Thought it was just a plug, so I throttled down and went to check the intake. Turned out a worn O-ring on the hydraulic coupling let go and sprayed oil everywhere. Cost me a full afternoon and about $140 in fluid plus the downtime. I used to think keeping spare hoses was enough, but the little seals are what actually fail on me. Since then I've got a small kit with assorted O-rings and a couple of spare couplings in the toolbox. Has anyone else had a small part like that stop a whole job, or do you guys just stock the big stuff?
