My drafting table lamp fell apart mid-linework on a Friday

I was tracing a plumbing riser at 6 pm and the gooseneck on my old desk lamp just snapped right at the base. The bulb hit the paper and left a scorch mark on a set of floor plans for a 4-unit building in Portland. Anyone got a clip-on LED they'd recommend that won't burn out after six months?

Grab an Architect Lamp from Ikea, the one with the clamp-on base and the spring arm. I've knocked mine around for two years and it's still going, no flickering or burnouts yet. Just make sure you tighten the clamp good onto your desk edge so it doesn't tip over at the worst moment.

Actually @jesse988 I think you might be mixing up two different Ikea lamps. The one with the spring arm and clamp is the Tertial, not the Architect. The Architect one is the taller floor lamp with the metal shade and the long reach. I've owned both and the Tertial is definitely the one that holds up to bumps and knocks better. The clamp on the Tertial can still slip if your desk edge is rounded though, so I'd sand a little flat spot or use a piece of rubber underneath just to be safe.
