Found a wild detail in an old drafting manual from the 70s
I was digging through a box of my grandpa's old work stuff and found his drafting textbook from 1973. It said a standard sheet of vellum could cost over $5 back then. Adjusted for inflation, that's like paying $35 for a single sheet of paper today. It made me realize how much cheaper and easier it is to just hit print now, even if we still need the skills. Anyone else find old industry prices that just blow your mind?

Wow, that reminds me of a buddy who worked in an architecture office that still had some old stock. He told me they found a box of that real vellum film in a closet, and his boss wouldn't let anyone use it because it was "like gold." They literally had a client project that would have been perfect for it, but the boss said the cost to replace it, if they could even find it, was crazy. They just scanned a piece for the look and printed on regular stuff.

Actually, vellum was a specific drafting film, not just paper. That price makes more sense for the good stuff.
