July 4th weekend 2019, the plumber said he couldnt come until Tuesday
The pipe under my kitchen sink burst on a Thursday night. Not a dramatic spray, just a slow drip that turned the cabinet bottom into mush by morning. Every hardware store within 20 miles was closed for the holiday. I spent Friday through Sunday rigging up a bucket system with a pool noodle and duct tape. Has anyone else had to MacGyver a fix while waiting for the holiday weekend to end?

Used to think holiday weekend emergencies were just part of the deal, you know, something you grit your teeth through. But one Labor Day with a backed up toilet and no plunger in the house changed that real quick. Now I keep a basic tool kit and spare parts under the sink, learned that lesson the hard way.
