I finally ditched the 4 foot drywall square for a laser level, and my ceiling lines got way straighter in one afternoon
Back when I first started helping my uncle flip houses outside of Dayton around 2009, we snapped chalk lines and used a 4 foot T square for everything, and hanging drywall on a ceiling meant two guys and a lot of swearing. Now I clamp a $90 laser level to a stud and shoot a line across the whole room by myself in about 10 minutes. The thing that sold me was a bathroom in Kettering where my corner bead was off by a quarter inch over 8 feet, and the mudder gave me a look I won't forget. I still keep the old square in the truck out of habit, but it mostly holds down the drop cloth these days. Curious what got the rest of you to finally give up a hand tool you swore by for years.
