My neighbor's 2-word compliment changed my whole paint approach
Last Saturday I was rolling the dining room ceiling and Bob from next door leans in and says 'nice patience.' I always rushed ceilings to get it done, but his comment made me slow down and back-roll every section twice. The finish looks way better than any other room I've done... has anyone else had a random comment make you redo a basic method?

That thing Bob did is just noticing, you know? Like when someone points out you always slam the car door or you never let the bread toast all the way. Once you hear it you can't unhear it. I've had it happen with grilling, a buddy said my burgers were fine but he could tell I flipped them too much, and now I let them sit. Same deal with the ceiling. Somebody watching from the outside sees the thing you're too close to see. The trick is having people around who'll actually say it instead of just nodding along.
