I thought those peel and stick floor tiles were a dumb idea until my basement flooded
My basement got about two inches of water from a broken pipe, and the old vinyl sheet was ruined. I needed something fast and cheap, so I grabbed a box of those sticky tiles from the hardware store for under thirty bucks. After three hours of work, the floor looked better than the old one and has held up for six months now. Anyone have a good way to cut these things around drain pipes without them chipping?

Man, I was the same way! I totally thought those were just a cheap gimmick. Then my laundry room had a leak and wrecked the linoleum. I put those sticky tiles down as a temporary fix over a year ago, and they still look perfect. For cutting around pipes, I score the tile really deep with a utility knife and then snap it, seems to chip less.

Three inches of water is a real mess, but calling it a flood seems a bit much. Those sticky tiles are fine for a quick fix, but six months isn't exactly a long-term test. Have you noticed any corners lifting up yet?

Honestly, I thought those sticky tiles were total junk too. My basement got a little damp last spring and I threw some down just to stop the concrete from sweating through. That was like two years ago, and they're still stuck flat with no lifting at all. How long has it been since your water issue? I'm kinda shocked mine held up this well, lol.
