I decided to paint my kitchen cabinets myself after getting a quote for $4,200 from a local contractor. I spent about $200 on a good primer, paint, and new hardware, and it took me two full weekends of sanding and careful brushing. The result honestly looks professional, and I saved a ton of money. Has anyone else been surprised by how much a DIY project saved them compared to hiring it out?

That's a massive difference in cost. Did the contractor's quote include materials, or was that just for labor?

Did you get a breakdown? Mine was just labor, and I had to buy everything myself.
