Found a bathroom vanity in a hotel that made me laugh and then think
Stayed at a place in Spokane last fall, and the bathroom vanity was held up by two stacks of old, hardcover books (like encyclopedias) instead of normal legs. It was clearly a DIY job, and they'd even sealed the books with some kind of clear coat. It looked wild, but honestly, it was totally solid. Has anyone else seen a weird but functional fix like that in a rental or a friend's house?

My old house had a table on cinderblocks.

That table on cinderblocks sounds about right. My own DIY skills are so bad, I once tried to fix a wobbly chair with a phone book and duct tape, and it just made a bigger mess. Some of us just weren't built for that life.
