Choosing between a full tile backsplash or just a strip behind the stove

I redid my kitchen in Austin and had to pick between tiling the whole wall or just a 12 inch strip. I went with the full backsplash using white subway tile, which cost about $400 more in materials. It looks way better but cleaning all that grout is a real pain. Anyone else face this choice and what did you pick?

Honestly, I'm on team strip behind the stove all the way. I get the full backsplash looks clean, but that extra few hundred bucks and all the extra grout lines to scrub just isn't worth it for me. I did the strip in my last place and it still looked finished, plus it was way easier to keep clean. I'd rather spend that money on better appliances or something.

So you just did a strip behind the stove and it looked finished? What about the sides of the range, like the little gaps between the stove and the cabinets? Did you tile those small spaces or just leave them as wall? Trying to picture how to make it look intentional and not like you just ran out of tile.
