Why does nobody talk about the 2 inch number when you're cutting a keyboard tray
Last month I built a pull out tray for my desk and set the slides 2 inches in from each edge, thinking that was plenty of support. The tray sagged in the middle within a week, so I measured again and found the slides needed to sit only 1 inch from the edges on a 30 inch span to actually hold the weight. I moved them, added a 1x2 brace across the back, and now it holds my full size keyboard plus a wrist pad with zero flex. So what's the actual rule you all use for slide spacing on a tray, is it a set number or does it change with the width?
