How a $3 pool noodle and a bread tie fixed my monitor stand wobble after 8 months of books
For almost 8 months I had my 27 inch monitor sitting on a stack of old textbooks because the stand it came with wobbled so bad I was scared it would tip over. I tried everything cheap, folded paper, a mouse pad, even wedged a spoon under the base, nothing worked and I just lived with it. Last week I was cleaning out the garage in Tucson and found a pool noodle my kids left behind, so I cut two 2 inch rings off it with a kitchen knife and slipped them over the feet of the stand. Then I grabbed a bread tie and twisted it around the back of the stand where the wobble was worst, just to pull the base tight against the desk. I know that sounds dumb but the monitor has not moved a millimeter since, and I tested it by bumping the desk with my knee like 10 times. Total cost was basically zero since the noodle was already garbage and the ties came from a loaf of Sara Lee. Has anyone else used random junk from around the house for a fix like this, or am I the only one who keeps a drawer full of pool noodle rings now?
