That one Saturday where my chain snapped 3 miles from home on a gravel path
I was out near the Cuyahoga Valley trail last Saturday, not even pushing hard, just cruising along when BAM my chain snapped clean in two. No warning, no weird noises before it happened. I had a quick link in my bag but of course I forgot my chain tool at home. Walked my bike back 3 miles in SPD shoes feeling like an idiot. Has anyone else had a chain fail on them with zero signs before?

That chain snapped clean in two" is exactly how mine went a few years back on the Summit Metro Parks loop. I was just pedaling steady and felt that sudden nothing under my foot, no crunch or grinding beforehand. I ended up rolling my bike most of the way back on the gravel with one ear bud in listening to a podcast like it was no big deal.
