Snapped my rear derailleur hanger 4 miles from home, coat hanger saved the ride
Last Tuesday on the way back from the grocery store my rear derailleur hanger snapped clean in half when I shifted into the lowest gear going up a hill. I pulled a wire coat hanger out of my bag, bent it into a rough hanger shape and zip tied it to the frame just to get the chain off the spokes and limp home in one gear. Is it worth buying a spare hanger for my bike or should I just carry the coat hanger trick everywhere?
