I had to choose between a new chain or a full drivetrain clean for my creaky old mountain bike

Remember my buddy's gravel bike that sounded like a bag of nails? He soaked the chain in a jar of mineral spirits, shook it hard. Then he used an old toothbrush on the cassette. Worked like a charm for months.
