Had my chain snap on a steep hill in the rain and it totally changed how I check my bike now

My chain broke on the Miller Road climb last year and I check it every month now.

Chain snap is the worst kind of wake-up call. I started checking for chain stretch with a ruler every few weeks, not just a quick look. A worn chain can wreck your cassette too, so it's a cheap fix that saves a lot of money later.
