Why I quit wearing gloves for dishes after 8 years of calling them a must
Last month I was at my sister's place in Boise helping clean up after her kids' birthday party, and she handed me a pair of yellow gloves for the sink. Halfway through a stack of greasy pans, water got inside and my hands were swimming in them, so I just peeled them off and went bare. Turns out my hands felt fine after, no itching or redness like I always got with gloves trapping sweat against my skin. Now I keep a bottle of the cheap stuff under the sink and just dry my hands good when I'm done, and honestly it's simpler. Anyone else ditch the gloves for good, or is it just me?
I had the same thing happen with the sweaty hands and itchiness. My mother-in-law swore by those thick blue gloves and I used them for years until I noticed my knuckles were always cracked and sore. Once I stopped, the redness cleared up in about a week. Now I just use the cheap dish soap and a little lotion after, and my hands stay happy. It is strange how something meant to protect you ends up causing more trouble.
