Showerthought: using a 25% opacity multiply layer to check values saved my messy color picks
I kept picking colors that looked fine alone but turned into mud once I put them side by side on the canvas. Last Tuesday I tried dropping a gray layer set to multiply at 25% opacity over the whole thing, and the spots that were too close in value just popped out. I flipped it on and off about 20 times while redoing a portrait for a friend in Chicago. Anyone else do the gray layer check, or is there a better way to test values before you commit?
