I just looked up how many digital artists are actually making a living off their work
Was scrolling through some stats on the Digital Art Showcase site the other day and found out that only about 5% of artists who post regularly earn over $30k a year from their art. That really surprised me since you see so many big followings and Patreon numbers. Guess the fanbase size doesn't always match the paycheck. Has anyone else looked into the real numbers behind the portfolios here?

yeah i totally feel this, i was in the same boat a couple years ago and had to really sit down and crunch the numbers myself. what finally worked for me was focusing less on the big follower count and more on the small group of people who actually bought prints or commissions on a regular basis. once i started treating it like a real side job with set rates and a schedule, the income got way more stable than when i was just hoping for viral posts. it sucks but a lot of those accounts with 50k followers only have like 20 people actually paying for stuff.
