Hit 500 followers on my art account and it freaked me out more than I expected
I post digital paintings on my page mostly landscapes and weird little character sketches, stuff I do in like 2 hours while watching TV. Somehow last Tuesday I crossed 500 followers and I sat there staring at the number for a solid 10 minutes. I've been posting since March 2023 and my growth has been SUPER slow, like maybe 5 new people a week if I'm lucky. When I hit 100 I thought that was the ceiling, so 500 just feels like a typo or something. The weird part is now I'm stressing about what to post next because I dont want to disappoint people who actually hit that follow button. Has anyone else hit a random milestone like this and suddenly felt pressure to change their whole style or posting schedule? I'm trying to just keep doing my thing but the pressure is real.
Honestly same energy when my dumb little doodle account hit 250. But the secret is most of those followers are bots or people who followed once and forgot you exist. Post the weird character sketch you made at 2am. That's way more fun than trying to impress a number that'll change next week anyway. If you lose 50 followers for posting something you like, that just means the right people are still around.
