This kind of thing happens way more than people admit. We all walk around thinking we're paying attention when really we're running on autopilot half the time, grabbing the green handle at the pump without reading a single word on it. Same reason people pour orange juice in their coffee mug or try to unlock their front door with a car key. The brain just goes "handle, nozzle, squeeze" and skips the part where you check if it's actually the right one. You're not dumb, you're just human and probably tired like the rest of us.
