Old timer at a shop in Nashville showed me how to bleed injectors using a pickle jar and a piece of hose

He said "stop wasting money on fancy kits" and that $2 setup has saved me at least ten hours of headache on 7.3 Powerstrokes alone, has anyone else got a hack like that for a Diesel engine?

Broke down in a field in BFE once with a bad lift pump on my old 12-valve. Used a Gatorade bottle and a piece of rubber fuel line to gravity-feed from a five-gallon can I had in the bed. Ran the whole way home like that, about forty miles. It's not fancy, but it's still in my toolbox somewhere.

Honestly, does that bottle still hold diesel smell or did you ever get it out? Tbh I've done the same trick with a 2-liter soda bottle and a zip tie to hold the line in place, and it worked fine for about 30 miles on a back road. Ngl, those redneck fixes always seem to outlast the actual parts you replace them with.
