Fuel filter housing cracked on I-80 near Des Moines, what a mess
Last Tuesday I was running a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia through Iowa and the primary fuel filter housing split right at the drain valve. Diesel sprayed everywhere under the hood before I even noticed the pressure drop, cost me about 4 hours and $180 for a new housing plus tow. I replaced it with the metal style instead of the plastic one, but the real pain was bleeding the entire fuel system on the shoulder with semis flying past. Has anyone else had these plastic housings go bad without warning or should I look at a different brand altogether?

The plastic ones fail just as often, they just fail quieter. Metal cracks too, especially if the bracket holds it tight and vibration works the seam. That $180 housing plus tow is nothing compared to what a crack at the drain valve costs when it lets go under load and washes the rear tires. You could have spent the same money on a different brand and still be sitting on that shoulder.
