A simple glow plug check led to a bigger find on a chilly job

Was working on a dump truck that wouldn't start this morning. Thought it was just a bad glow plug, but found air in the fuel lines too. Bled the system and now it runs smooth. Ever had a small fix uncover a bigger issue?

Actually, glow plugs and air in fuel lines are separate systems on a diesel. Did the air get in from a bad seal on a filter housing or something?

Since you mentioned a bad seal, have you checked the fuel lines too?
