Warning: my bus stop seating plan was backwards for 3 months
I design the shelters for our town's community bus loop, and last month a rider named Marge at the Elm St stop asked why the bench faces the road instead of the sidewalk. Turns out I'd been placing every seat to face traffic out of habit, so folks waiting in the rain had their backs to the path where the bus actually pulls in. I flipped the layout at three stops and watched people settle in way faster during the morning rush. Has anyone else caught a default they kept copying without checking how riders actually wait?
