Saw my neighbor get hit with a $2,000 ransomware demand last Tuesday.

His files were locked up tight because he clicked a fake FedEx link in an email. Took him 5 minutes to lose 3 years of family photos and work documents. Anyone here actually get their stuff back after paying those demands?

Question whether it's really that serious, seems like people panic too fast over this stuff. Paid demands usually get your stuff back from what I hear, just a hassle.
