PSA: Hit 50 phishing attempts in one day last Tuesday and it shook me up

I run a small shop out of my garage, just me and one other guy, and last Tuesday we got hit with 50 phishing emails in a single day. That's more than I usually see in a whole month, and one of them actually looked like it came from our payment processor. I clicked on it by accident before I caught myself, and that moment of panic made me realize how fast these scams are evolving. Has anyone else seen a spike like that recently, or am I just unlucky?

Yeah but isn't that just par for the course when you run a small business these days?

Man, your story really got me thinking because I used to be one of those guys who figured phishing was mostly just Nigerian prince scams and obvious fake bank emails that nobody would fall for. I thought it was a problem for big corporations with IT departments, not a small operation like yours or anyone else just trying to run their own show. But hearing you got 50 in one day, especially one that spoofed your payment processor, that changed my whole view on it. That kind of targeted attack is way too close for comfort, and I can totally see how easily someone could slip up and click. Now I'm way more paranoid about every link I hover over, even the ones that look normal. This is a wake up call for me to get serious about that stuff too, no more assuming it won't happen to us.
