My phone number ended up on a spam list after a simple password reset

I reset my password on an old retail site last month and within two days my phone got flooded with scam calls. The site had a data breach back in 2020 and I guess my info was still floating around. I never use my real phone number for accounts anymore, just a Google Voice number I set up for free. It took maybe 10 minutes to get that set up and it has cut the spam down to almost nothing. Anyone else switch to a virtual number for account signups and seen a big drop in junk calls?

Honestly my Google Voice number gets more spam than my actual number does now.

Ha, that's rough. Guess Google Voice is the new hot spot for spam these days, makes me feel a bit better about my own voicemail box being a ghost town.
