Guy at the library told me his password was his dog's name plus 123, and I can't stop thinking about it
Last Wednesday I was at the public library in Sacramento helping my mom set up her email on one of the public computers, and this older guy next to us struck up a chat because he saw her struggling with the login screen. He was friendly, super normal, and then he proudly told us his password for everything is his dog's name followed by 123, and he uses the same one for his bank, his email, and even his medical portal. I tried to gently say that's a bad idea, and he laughed and said he'd been doing it for 15 years with zero problems. I asked him if his dog's name was on his Facebook page, and he went quiet for a second and said yeah, probably. He wouldn't let me help him change it because he was scared he'd forget a new one. I gave him the trick of using a short sentence instead of one word, like three random words mashed together, and he wrote it on a napkin. No clue if he actually did it. Has anyone here had luck getting a stubborn family member or stranger to switch off the same old password? What line finally worked on them?
