Found a card skimmer at a gas station in Tulsa last weekend
I stopped at a Phillips 66 off Route 66 around 9pm. The pump looked normal but the card reader felt a bit loose when I slid my card in. I wiggled it and the whole faceplate came off in my hand revealing a skimmer taped to the inside. I called the station manager and he said they check every morning but this one must have been put on that afternoon. Has anyone else started checking pumps this way or am I being paranoid?

My coworker grabbed a pump in Bartlesville last month and the reader cover practically fell off in his hand too. He found a blue skimmer with a rubber band holding a battery pack to the inside of the housing. Took him about twenty seconds of wiggling to discover it, but now he checks every pump he uses without fail.

Wait, you mean it just popped off in your hand like that? I used to think people were being dramatic about checking pumps, figured it was just one of those things you hear about but never actually see. But after hearing this, I'm gonna start giving every reader a good yank before swiping. My buddy had his debit card cloned last year at a Shell station in Oklahoma City, took him months to get the money back from the bank. Better to look stupid wiggling a pump than end up fighting with customer service over fraudulent charges.
