The porch light timer that finally stopped my neighbor's midnight pacing

For 2 years my neighbor would pace outside my bedroom window every night around 1am, and talking to him did nothing. I tried motion lights and even a fence, but the real fix was a simple $15 outlet timer that turns on my porch light at midnight and off at 6am. Has anyone else found that a small routine change, not confrontation, broke a creepy habit?

aint 1am more like when the sun comes up? that timer is just when you sleep, not when the pacing stops.
