Serious question, did I waste $180 on a trail cam to catch my neighbor doing weird stuff at 2am?
So for about 8 months I was dead sure the guy two doors down was doing something strange in his backyard at night. Lights on at 2am, weird scraping sounds, his dog going nuts. I finally dropped $180 on a wireless trail cam from Bass Pro and mounted it in my maple tree pointed at his fence line. Two weeks of footage later, turned out he works the overnight shift at a hospital in Aurora and just grills burgers on his patio at 3am because that's his dinner time. The "scraping" was him dragging his propane tank around. I felt like such a jerk and also $180 poorer. I even called a buddy who does security work in Naperville to ask about night vision settings and he laughed at me. So my advice, before you buy gear to spy on someone, just walk over and say hey what's up with the 2am noise. Has anyone else burned cash on surveillance stuff for a neighbor thing that turned out to be nothing?
