Vent: my writing group went from fun prompts to a 7 page lore doc

Last month I shared this simple prompt about a convenience store clerk who finds a note in a Slurpee cup. Then one member started adding lore, and now we need a wiki to keep up with rules about magic systems and timeline. I get that some people like worldbuilding, but I joined to write short fun stuff, not study a textbook. We spent 45 minutes last Thursday debating one character's bloodline instead of writing anything. Anyone else's group slowly turn into a full time job?
