Found out most writing prompts die because the character has no real want
I read a post on a craft blog that said 80% of rejected prompts fail because the protagonist wants something vague like 'peace' instead of a concrete object or outcome. Since I started forcing myself to give my characters a specific, weird goal, like finding a stolen keychain, my prompts actually get responses. Has anyone else noticed their prompts get more traction when the want is something you could hold in your hand?
