TIL about a moral gray area when a client wanted an unsafe lift
I refused the lift, but it cost us the contract.

My old foreman used to say a lost contract beats a lost limb every time. That stuff haunts you when you have to make the call on site.

What about when the lost contract costs someone their home or health insurance? A limb is a terrible thing, but a company can fire you the second you can't work. That stuff follows people for years just as bad as an injury does. The call on site is awful, but so is telling your family there's no money for rent. Sometimes the lost contract means a lost life, just slower and without the workers comp.

Tell that to my landlord, @reed.nora.
