Saw a crew in Dallas last week not checking their load chart for wind
They were about to lift a big HVAC unit with a stiff breeze, and I had to radio over. The chart clearly said to drop capacity by 15% for those conditions. Anyone else notice guys skipping this step more often lately?

Honestly those load charts can be overkill sometimes. A stiff breeze isn't a hurricane, and experienced operators get a feel for the conditions. Maybe they checked it earlier and knew the rig could handle it, so stopping to look at paper just slows the whole job down. Constantly second-guessing the crew with radio calls isn't helpful either. They probably had it under control.

Yeah, until the "stiff breeze" sends the load swinging.
