Question about load charts after a near miss on a windy lift in Amarillo
Two weeks ago I was setting a 4,200 lb HVAC unit on a roof in Amarillo with a 25 mph crosswind, and the load started swinging way more than I expected. I stopped the pick, brought it back down, and rechecked the chart, and sure enough the wind was pushing me over the limit for that radius. I used to think the wind notes on the chart were just covering their backs, but now I rig down anything over 20 mph and call the super to reschedule. Curious if others have a hard wind cutoff they stick to, or if you go by gust speed instead of the steady reading.
